Finding My Way to Art

ree

If you had told me a year ago that I'd have a website where I'd be sharing my artwork with the world, I probably would have looked confused - or laughed.

I've always felt like a frustrated creative, but I never quite knew what my outlet was. I stumbled across painting in 2024 while searching for a way to express myself and quickly fell in love with the calm it gave me.

In the beginning, art was something that I did quietly, on the edges of life - weekends, late evenings, and in the small pockets of time between responsibilities. It was a way to breathe, not something I imagined would ever take up space beyond my own home.

But sometimes life nudges us - gently at first, and then insistently - towards the things that make us feel most alive.

Over the past year, painting has shifted from a private outlet into something deeper: a way to process emotion, navigate life's experiences, and express things I can't easily articulate with words.

My work isn't about perfection or realism - it's about feeling. About texture, movement, contrast, and the sense that something is happening beneath the surface.

I paint with the intention of creating pieces that feel alive - a little raw, emotional, and hopefully personal.

Many of my paintings explore themes of transition: darkness to light, chaos to calm, loss to renewal. These are experiences most of us move through at some point, even if we seldom speak about them openly. Art has become the place where I can.

Why Share Now?

After selling and exhibiting a few pieces, receiving encouragement, and -most importantly - recognising how much painting means to me, I decided it was time to step forward. Not perfectly. Not with everything figured out. But with honesty.

This website isn't just a gallery, it's a record of an unfolding journey. Some days I feel confident and intentional. Other days, the creative process feels messy and uncertain. But I've learnt that art grows in that space, between control and surrender.

What You'll Find Here

Over time, this space will include:

  • New artwork as pieces are finished

  • Stories behind the paintings - what inspired them, what changed during the process, what surprised me

  • Occasional reflections on creativity, doubt, growth, and the journey of making something from nothing

  • Updates about exhibitions, releases or studio sales

If you're here reading this - thank you. Truly. It means the world to me when someone connects with my work or my story.

Whether you're an art lover, a fellow creative, someone who stumbled across this space, or someone quietly cheering from the sidelines - I'm glad you're here.

This feels like the beginning of something meaningful.

So here's to beginnings - imperfect and honest.

Julia
